Hannah Jun never has to worry about having a booming drive blocked by a defender or dodging a would-be tackler as she lines up a putt.

According to her boyfriend, Toronto Argonauts kicker Justin Medlock, that makes professional golf a breeze compared to what he has to deal with on the football field.

"He always tells me he's got the hardest job," Jun said.

They'll both be cashing paycheques this week.

Jun fired a 1-over 72 yesterday at the CN Canadian Women's Open, narrowly surviving the cut in her first LPGA Tour event of the season.

As his girlfriend tried to string together some pars and birdies at Priddis Greens, Medlock was two time-zones and about 3,500 kilometres away preparing for his first taste of the Argos' annual Labour Day battle with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

And, of course, keeping tabs on Jun.

"He usually already knows (my score) by the time I'm done at the course," she said.

Jun was a part-timer on the LPGA Tour last year, but has been spending this summer playing mostly on the Duramed Futures Tour. She scored a CN Canadian Women's Open exemption by winning last year's Canadian Women's PGA crown.

Having a chance to rub shoulders with the likes of Lorena Ochoa, Paula Creamer and Cristie Kerr has only increased her determination to earn a full-time card.

"Everything seems greener on the other side, right?" Jun said. "I miss it. I do. I miss the golf. I miss the girls. I'm glad to be back, at least for one week."

She's proving she belongs.

Medlock is also making the most of his opportunity to showcase his skills on Canadian soil. The former UCLA Bruin tied an Argos franchise record with seven field goals in an Aug. 14 game against the B.C. Lions and was named the CFL's special teams player of the month for August.

He's nailed 20 of his 21 field-goal attempts so far.

According to Jun, he can also hold his own with a golf club in his hands.

Question is, could he ever get the best of his girlfriend on the links?

"No," Jun said. "There's no nice way to say that. He definitely can't beat me."
