The field keeps getting better for the 2009 CN Canadian Women's Open.

Cristie Kerr, the LPGA Tour's top money earner this season, and Lorena Ochoa, the world's No. 1 player, have confirmed their appearance for the tour stop, Sept. 3-6 at Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club.

Katherine Hull, Meena Lee and Meg Mallon will also challenge for the US$2.75-million purse at the track just 15 minutes southwest of Calgary, as announced by the Royal Canadian Golf Association.

Hull, an Australian who ranks 13th on the '09 money list with $338,000, won last year's CN Canadian Women's Open in Ottawa. Ochoa, third this year with $711,105, won Canada's LPGA Tour stop in '07. Kerr, with $789,900, was the CN queen in '06. Lee won it in '05. And Mallon is a two-time winner in '04 and '02.

"Our list of former champions includes many of the LPGA Tour's finest players over the past several years, and I'm sure Calgary golf fans will realize very quickly why Lorena, Cristie, Meg and Meena are considered among the most talented competitors ever to compete on the LPGA Tour," said tournament director Sean Van Kesteren. "And we are thrilled that Katherine will be joining us in Calgary to defend her title."

Canadians Lorie Kane and Alena Sharp, along with high-profile LPGA stars Michelle Wie, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, Yani Tseng and Brittany Lincicome, will also play in the event, which will raise money for the Alberta Children's Hospital.
