Joe Panzeri isn’t trying to sell tickets.
He’s trying to win a trophy.
The 27-year-old from Meridian, Idaho, owns a three-shot lead at the 2013 ATB Financial Classic, and he isn’t planning a fireworks display for Friday’s final round.
“I think the key is keeping it in play and just, maybe, playing boring golf,” Panzeri said after Thursday’s soggy spin around the Talons Course at Country Hills.
“That’s how I felt like I played. Nothing flashy. Nothing great. Nothing terrible.”
Nothing to sneeze at, either.
Panzeri circled three birdies in a mistake-free loop of the 7,209-yard setup, signing for a 3-under 69 and staking to a three-shot lead over South Carolina’s Chris Epperson and Michael Gligic of Burlington, Ont.
Panzeri, who hung on for a one-stroke victory at the 2011 Dakota Dunes Casino Open in Saskatoon, is seeking his second Canadian Tour/PGA Tour Canada triumph.
