When Manotick's Brad Fritsch, surrounded by palm trees in the land of leis, tees it up at the Sony Open in Hawaii Thursday, there'll be a lot more on the line than the couple of hundred bucks he's been playing for in betting games with his buddies back in North Carolina.

The 35-year-old Rideau View Country Club member is hoping to carry over last year's momentum after earning his PGA Tour card with an 18th-place finish on the Web.com Tour, then tying for seventh in the gruelling Q-School. Now it's a whole new world, teeing up alongside the likes of Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson ... a dream come true.

"Hypothetically, let's say I play with Mickelson or Tiger, sure it's going to be a little bit intimidating, but I've got to think that beating them in that round would be a lot more fun than I would be nervous teeing off with them," said Fritsch. "It would just be a lot of fun to go shot for shot with them.
