Anything boys can do...
Izzy Beisiegel is determined to do just as well - or better.
The Quebec native played her inaugural round Thursday on the Canadian Tour, five weeks after becoming the first woman to earn status on a men's professional tour.
And despite a 7-over 78, she wasn't disappointed.
"Oh, yes "¶ I was nervous," Beisiegel said with a smile. "But I had fun, and I can't be disappointed. I really enjoyed it, and you always want to keep proper perspective. It's not (a life or death situation), so it would be ridiculous to be upset about it."
Her initial test was a success -- a birdie on the par-4, 320-yard first hole of Bearspaw Country Club. Then, the wind kicked up -- as did her score.
"This is my first tournament, so there's just such a learning curve," said Beisiegel, who will have to have a stellar second round Friday to make the cut. "I have to learn to play bounces, and the greens are much faster than I'm used to. It's a tough test here."
