JERSEY CITY, N.J. - A lot has been written about the other two Canadians who will play in Sunday’s Super Bowl, Denver tackle Orlando Franklin and Seattle tight end Luke Willson.

The Seahawks punter, Jon Ryan of Regina, has been taking a low profile.

He never gets his own podium on Media Day. In fact, after one regular-season game, three playoff games, and a Friday post-practice visit I’ve never even seen Ryan in the Seahawks’ locker room.

But there he was on Wednesday, tucked about as far away from his teammates, at the last players table situated in a hotel corridor, during the Seahawks’ morning interview session at their team hotel.

Ryan now is in his eighth NFL season. After originally signing with Green Bay and playing two seasons with the Packers, Ryan signed with Seattle in 2008.

The 32-year-old was born and raised in Regina. He even played football at the University of Regina.

And, shocker, he grew up a big fan of his country and of hockey.
