Next week at the annual circus known as Super Bowl media day, count on there being a vast throng of reporters clustered around Richard Sherman.

The Seattle Seahawks cornerback is one of the best in the business, but that isn’t what will draw the media.

Sherman is no shrinking flower and is that rare beast who isn’t afraid to speak his mind about matters concerning the NFL and society in general.

He is bright and articulate and also can run his mouth with the best of them when hyped up on adrenaline such as he did in his post-game rant last Sunday after beating the San Francisco 49ers

His comments concerning how good he is and how foolish it was of the 49ers to try to beat him on a fade route with an inferior receiver such as Michael Crabtree drew plenty of response, both positive and negative.

Sherman has since followed up by suggesting that those who called him a ‘thug’ did so due to racist views.
