Ravens cheerleader barred from Super Bowl because of weight
By QMI Agency

Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Courtney Lenz is a healthy scratch from the Super Bowl roster.

The dancer, 23, was not given an invitation by the Ravens to make the trek to New Orleans. Baltimore was told to trim their 60-girl squad to 32.

The main reason for the five-year veteran's omission? She’s overweight.

In a TV interview with Access Hollywood, Lenz said Ravens staff told her she had "a rough year."

"I had been benched earlier in the year for a little weight gain," she said. When pressed for her actual weight she said 124 lbs. Her weight gain brought her to 125 and change.

The Ravens released a statement noting, "Our selection process was based upon three criteria: seniority, performance ability and personal conduct throughout the season."

Lenz said she was reprimanded twice during the season, once in October and again in November. The Ravens wanted her to trim her weight down to 120 or 121 lbs — a weight she says she hasn't seen since she was 18.

Friends and fans have set up a Facebook page, Help us get Courtney to Superbowl, to call awareness to her plight, asking for visitors to sign a petition.

This was to be Lenz's final year on the cheerleading squad, as she announced her retirement after the Ravens' final home game against the Indianapolis Colts, Jan. 6.

"I wouldn't even have reached out and let fans know if I didn't think it was clearly wrong," Lenz told ABCNews.com. "I'm just devastated by the whole situation. This was very unexpected … I didn't even think there would be a chance of me not going with being a five-year veteran."
