FOXBOROUGH, MASS. - Driving along Route 93 deep in the heart of Patriots Country, even the billboard that had mocked Ray Lewis the past week finally gave the future Hall of Famer and his Baltimore Ravens their much deserved due.
In the days leading up to Sunday’s AFC championship game between Ravens and Pats at Gillette Stadium, local motorists here took glee in seeing the billboard, which was counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds to Ray Lewis’ “retirement party” — in other words, the kickoff of the game. That’s how certain people here were that the Pats would come out ahead on the scoreboard.
Ray Lewis and the Ravens had other ideas.
“I was hurt when I saw a sign that actually said my retirement would (start Sunday),” Lewis said after his Ravens upset the mighty Pats 28-13.
