SAN FRANCISCO - Some news and views from the press box — or, in the case of Candlestick Park, press tent — heading into this weekend’s NFC title game between the 49ers and the Falcons.

HOME SWEET DOME?

On the surface, you would think that home-field advantage would be an alleged edge that every team and its fan base would clamour for.

But that’s not the case here in San Francisco. Not among the 49ers supporters anyway.

You could almost hear a collective sigh of relief here from the fine citizens in the picturesque City by the Bay when Matt Bryant’s late field goal gave the Falcons a 30-28 victory over the Seattle Seahawks at the Georgia Dome on Sunday.

Had the Seahawks been victorious, they would have ensured a visit to San Francisco for an NFC West divisional clash against the rival 49ers in the NFC championship game next Sunday.

But with the horrific memories of Seattle’s 42-13 pounding of the 49ers last month still fresh in the minds of most here

Yes, he is a talented receiver
No, he is too old to play
CFL might be a better option
