Packers just aren't good enough

SAN FRANCISCO - You don’t have to spend much time channel surfing down here south of the border before some member of the Green Bay Packers appears on your screen telling you what food you should be munching on or where to spend your hard-earned cash.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers peddles pizza and is a spokesman for an investment firm. Wideout Greg Jennings informs you which product will keep your armpits from stinking. Linebacker Clay Matthews tries to sway you into choosing a certain cell phone network.

They may play in the tiny football-crazed hamlet of Green Bay, but these guys certainly appear to have gone Hollywood.

Too bad they weren’t as productive on the football field as they’ve been landing commercials.

In seeing their season coming to a premature end with a huge 45-31 plop at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers at Candlestick Park on Saturday night, the Packers hardly resembled the team that won the Super Bowl two years ago.
