Despite recently severing ties with the 26-year-old, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is singing the praises of Tim Tebow.
“I love Tim Tebow and I very much wanted him on the team,” Kraft said Tuesday during an appearance on CBS’s This Morning.
“If you look, four of the last five years we've only carried two quarterbacks and you know when a cut-down time comes, you need those last three, four positions for depth.”
Tebow, who has appeared in 36 games since breaking into the NFL in 2010, was released by New England Sunday. In April, the quarterback was let go by the New York Jets.
Kraft didn’t completely rule out the possibility of Tebow returning to the Patriots down the road.
“We never know what's going to happen,” he said. “You're one play away at all times from your whole game changing, and ... I haven't met a finer young man.”
Since the Tebow cleared waivers Sunday, rumours have swirled about his next move.
Will another NFL team take a chance on Tebow? Is he CFL-bound?
“Whatever he does,” Kraft added, “I know he's going to be a great success off the field and I'm rooting for him to get his opportunity on the field as well.”
