While it’s not quite the drama spun last NBA season between Derrick Rose and his Chicago Bulls, there are people questioning Jets receiver Santonio Holmes and his recovery from a foot injury.

According to the New York Post, some in the Jets organization believe Holmes is milking the Lisfranc injury he suffered 11 months ago in order to avoid training camp. In fact, the report goes so far as to say that the doctor who operated on Holmes has already cleared him to resume football activities. Holmes has not practiced since camp began.

For his part, the veteran wideout told the Post that he’s playing it safe.

“I feel good some days, I don’t the others,” Holmes said. “This pain won’t go away.”

It’s worth noting that the 29-year-old Holmes missed most of last year’s training camp due to something that was listed as “general body soreness.”
