Maybe it’s time for Rex Ryan to get that Mark Sanchez-themed tattoo erased.

Along with any thoughts of Sanchez one day regaining his job as the New York Jets starting quarterback.

In what is being called “Tattoo-Gate” in the Big Apple, a New York Daily News photographer snapped a shot of the emotional Ryan sunbathing on his vacation to the Bahamas last week. The highlight of the shot was a colourful tattoo on Ryan’s right arm depicting his wife sporting a Sanchez jersey.

On Tuesday, during the Jets end-of-this-horrible-season press conference, Ryan came clean concerning his body ink.

“There’s a question — is that a real tattoo or not?” he told reporters. “I’ll keep you guessing. It is funny. It is a tattoo I’ve had going on three years now.

“I know what you’re thinking, ‘Obviously, if Sanchez doesn’t play well, that number is changing.’ “That’s pretty much a given.
