BUFFALO BILLS (20) at NEW YORK JETS (27)

Rookie Geno Smith threw for 331 yards as host New York (2-1) held off Buffalo (1-2).

Santonio Holmes (154) and Stephen Hill (108) eclipsed 100 yards receiving and Bilal Powell had his first career 100-yard day with 149 on 27 carries to lift New York despite a team-record 168 yards in penalties.

Buffalo rookie quarterback EJ Manuel endured eight sacks and finished 19-of-41 for 243 yards.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (17) at SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (45)

Russell Wilson tied a career high with four touchdown passes and threw for 202 yards as unbeaten Seattle (3-0) rolled past visiting Jacksonville (0-3).

Zach Miller and Sidney Rice each had two touchdown receptions for the Seahawks.

Jacksonville running back Maurice Jones-Drew, playing with a foot injury, was held to 43 yards on 19 carries and one score.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (27) at SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (7)

Ahmad Bradshaw ran for 95 yards and a touchdown to overshadow Trent Richardson’s Indianapolis (2-1) debut, and the Colts defense harangued Colin Kaepernick to upset host San Francisco (1-2).

Richardson had 13 carries for 35 yards and a score. Quarterback Andrew Luck completed 18-of-27 passes for 164 yards and added a six-yard scoring run.

Kaepernick completed 13-of-27 passes for 150 yards and added an interception for the 49ers.

ATLANTA FALCONS (23) at MIAMI DOLPHINS (27)

Ryan Tannehill hit Dion Sims for a one-yard touchdown pass to cap a 75-yard drive late in the fourth quarter as host Miami rallied to improve to 3-0.

Tannehill was finished 24-of-35 for 236 yards with two touchdowns and an interception.

Atlanta (1-2) got the ball back with 38 seconds left but Jimmy Wilson picked off Matt Ryan on the second play of the drive to seal the win.

Ryan passed for 231 yards and two touchdowns, including nine passes to Julio Jones caught for 115 yards.

ARIZONA CARDINALS (7) at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (31)

Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another as host New Orleans routed Arizona to move to 3-0.

Brees hit Robert Meachem for a 27-yard touchdown in the first quarter and hooked up with Jimmy Graham for scoring tosses of 16 and seven yards.

Arizona (1-2) marched 80 yards on 11 plays on its opening possession, scoring on Alfonso Smith’s 3-yard run for a 7-0 lead, but the offense didn’t have the same success the rest of the day.

GREEN BAY PACKERS (30) at CINCINNATI BENGALS (34)

Terence Newman returned a fumble 58 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as Cincinnati (2-1) scored the final 20 points to rally past visiting Green Bay (1-2).

The Bengals took a 14-0 lead on short scoring runs by Giovani Bernard and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. But Cincinnati didn’t score again until Andy Dalton threw touchdown passes of 20 yards to A.J. Green and 11 yards to Marvin Jones in the second half, trimming a 16-point deficit to 30-27 with 10:55 to play.

St. LOUIS RAMS (7) at DALLAS COWBOYS (31)

DeMarco Murray thrashed the St. Louis defence once again and Tony Romo threw touchdown passes to three different receivers as Dallas (2-1) notched a comfortable home victory.

Murray ran 26 times for 175 yards and a touchdown and added three catches for 28 yards.

Romo was 17-of-24 for 210 yards with scoring strikes to Dez Bryant in the first quarter, Gavin Escobar in the third and Dwayne Harris in the fourth.

CLEVELAND BROWNS (31) at MINNESOTA VIKINGS (27)

Brian Hoyer connected with tight end Jordan Cameron on a seven-yard touchdown pass in the final minute to lift visiting Cleveland (1-2) over Minnesota (0-3).

Hoyer threw three touchdown passes and completed 30-for-54 passes for 321 yards for the Browns. Cameron caught three scoring passes.

Christian Ponder ran for two touchdowns and was 25-for-42 passing for 228 yards and one interception.

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (17) at TENNESSEE TITANS (20)

Justin Hunter hauled in a 34-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds left as host Tennessee (2-1) stunned San Diego (1-2).

Facing a third-and-10, Jake Locker heaved a pass to Hunter in the end zone for his first career NFL reception to cap a 10-play, 94-yard drive. Locker went 23-for-37 for 299 yards while Nate Washington added eight catches for 131 yards to pace the Titans.

Philip Rivers completed 20-of-24 passes for 184 yards and a score for the Chargers.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (3) at NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (23)

Tom Brady threw a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes to rookie Kenbrell Thompkins and host New England (3-0) overcame a slow start to flatten winless Tampa Bay (0-3).

Brady threw for a modest 225 yards with one interception and Stephen Gostkowski kicked three field goals.

Beleaguered Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman had his second straight sub-par outing, finishing 19-for-41 for 236 yards and a costly late interception.

DETROIT LIONS (27) at WASHINGTON REDSKINS (20)

Matthew Stafford threw for 385 yards and two touchdowns as Detroit (2-1) snapped a lengthy road losing streak against Washington (0-3).

Stafford completed 25-of-42 passes and Joique Bell had 20 carries for 63 yards and a score while filling in for the injured Reggie Bush. Nate Burleson made six catches for 116 yards and Calvin Johnson hauled in seven passes for 115 yards and a touchdown for the Lions, who had lost 21 consecutive road meetings – including playoffs – with the Redskins.

Washington’s Robert Griffin III was 32-of-50 for 326 yards and had an interception for Washington. DeAngelo Hall returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown.

NEW YORK GIANTS (0) at CAROLINA PANTHERS (38)

Cam Newton threw three touchdown passes and added a rushing score as host Carolina (1-2) rolled to the most lopsided victory in franchise history.

Newton hooked up with Brandon LaFell for scoring strikes of 16 and 20 yards and hit Ted Ginn Jr. with a 47-yard bomb while DeAngelo Williams racked up 120 yards on 23 carries for Carolina.

New York’s (0-3) offense sputtered, managing only 150 total yards. Eli Manning was 12-for-23 for 119 yards and threw an interception, and the Giants had just 60 rushing yards on 16 attempts.

HOUSTON TEXANS (9) at BALTIMORE RAVENS (30)

Daryl Smith returned an interception for a touchdown and Tandon Doss added a punt return for a score as host Baltimore (2-1) knocked off Houston (2-1).

Bernard Pierce rushed for a touchdown and the Ravens defence held the Texans to three field goals.

Houston lost standout receiver Andre Johnson to a leg injury in the third quarter.
