Falcons show Giants they mean business
By Bill Lankhof, QMI Agency
The New York Giants used the Atlanta Falcons as a stepping stone last year to the Super Bowl.
Sunday, the Giants tripped over that same stone.
As a result of the Giants’ fall, the NFC East has been thrown into a beautiful clutter.
Turnabout might be fair play but what the Falcons did to the Giants Sunday was downright nasty.
They didn’t just beat the Giants, the Falcons exhibited total domination over their old nemesis. Make that FORMER nemesis. The Falcons proved that much better. That much in control.
Atlanta was exposed as pretenders last season when the Giants beat them 24-2 enroute to a Super Bowl. But Sunday they exacted revenge with a 34-0 win.
It was the worst shutout loss by a defending Super Bowl champion in NFL history.
It might also prove to be the undoing of the Giants as it turns the race for the NFC East title and wild card into a witch’s brew.
