Rookie Martin runs over Raiders

You’re going to be hearing a lot more about this kid.

Doug Martin, the rookie running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, is taking the league by storm.

He ran it down the Oakland Raiders’ throats on Sunday, carrying 25 times for 251 yards and scoring four touchdowns – on runs of 1, 45, 67 and 70 yards – as the Bucs hung on for a 42-32 win.

Martin also caught four passes for 21 yards.

Making it all the more special for him is that he did it in his hometown of Oakland.

“Everybody was there – it was awesome,” Martin said afterward. “It’s surreal right now. I’m just doing my job out there. I’m honoured.”

After amassing 214 yards rushing and receiving (plus two TDs) a week earlier at Minnesota, Martin now has 487 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns in his past two games.

If he’s somehow still available in your fantasy league, you might want to pick him up.

Tampa Bay improved to 4-4, while Oakland fell to 3-5.

Martin’s eye-popping day overshadowed that of Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer, who was 39-of-61 for 414 yards and four touchdowns. But he was picked off three times.

Josh Freeman threw for 247 yards in the Bucs’ balanced, 515-yard attack.

Is first round pick Eric Fisher a decent choice by the Kansas City Chiefs?
  Yes.
  No.
He has to prove himself before I decide.
