SEATTLE - The tale of the tape is still the same for Russell Wilson, a 5-foot-11 measurement so generous that, to be accurate, it would likely require the longest cleats in the NFL.

But don't think that the Super Bowl-winning quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks hasn't grown in the off-season and that he isn't poised to lead his team to new heights.

That expansion was in evidence throughout a clinically efficient preseason and it will likely be on display here on Thursday night in a different form when Wilson and the 'Hawks begin their title defence against another potential NFC powerhouse, the Green Bay Packers.

"We're thrilled with what we are seeing," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said of his third-year quarterback, who has progressed through his football matriculation seemingly at warp speed. "I didn't know how much farther he would go from last year to this year. It seems like he is really, really in control of what's happening.

"We'll see if that translates (into regular-season success) --and it should. We have a large package of stuff that we can bring into a game plan that we feel like we've got command of."
