You hear the breathless dispatches from Cleveland and see the one-finger salute that got everyone so excited and you start to seriously question whether anyone in the media are remotely concerned about giving a fair and balanced picture.

Yes, that was Johnny Manziel flipping off the Washington Redskins bench on Monday Night Football.

If you haven’t seen it a few thousand times already you’re actively avoiding it.

Johnny Football, the firey (off the field and on) quarterback that is vying for the No. 1 job in Cleveland against Brian Hoyer showed some immaturity with the gesture but really was it anything more than that?

All this talk about how it could affect his chances at being the No. 1 in Cleveland are laughable.

What should have been the actual news coming out of the game is that neither he nor Hoyer did anything at all in the game to make rookie head coach Mike Pettine’s most pivotal decision to date any easier.
