PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Continually troubled Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus is "close" to being in good enough condition to join his teammates on the field.

GM Doug Whaley said in an interview Sunday night, as the Bills kicked off the NFL's first 2014 training camp practice at St. John Fisher College.

"Yes, he's close," Whaley said. "It's not like he's going to be out for an extended period of time."

Bills head coach Doug Marrone said after Monday's practice that Dareus was expected to arrive at the quaint college grounds by Monday evening, to continue with his catch-up conditioning.

You might be thinking: “Dareus what an idiot. Just another spoiled-child pro athlete who doesn't get it, and is carelessly frittering it all away.”

Well, there's so much more to it than that. And that is not to say the Bills aren't immensely disappointed in him.
