Former Buffalo Sabres owner Thomas Golisano indeed plans to bid on the Buffalo Bills once the team goes on sale.

A source familiar with Golisano’s intentions confirmed as much on Wednesday night.

This comes as no surprise in Western New York. Reports for more than a month have pegged the billionaire originally from Rochester, N.Y., as a likely, even expected, bidder.

On Wednesday the Bills announced the hiring of an investment bank and law firm — Morgan Stanley and Proskauer Rose, respectively — to oversee the sale. Within 30 days, the club said it will metaphorically hammer the for-sale sign into the lawn at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park.

That is, Morgan Stanley and Proskauer Rose will officially “begin contacting prospective buyers.”

At that time, the source said Golisano not only will bid but will seek immediate NFL pre-approval.
