ATLANTA – Jerry Jones indeed is not the only NFL owner who holds Jon Bon Jovi in high regard, and who thinks he would make an outstanding NFL owner.

So does John Mara.

The president, CEO and co-owner of the New York Giants on Tuesday morning told QMI Agency that he knows the 52-year-old rocker and has spoken with him about his long-expressed desire to join the league's ownership ranks.

"I think he'd be a great NFL owner," Mara said in an interview on the final day of the league's spring meeting at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead. "He's got a really good knowledge and passion for the game, and he's obviously a smart businessman.

"If he puts together the right group of people I think he could be a very successful owner."

On Monday, Jones called Bon Jovi "an outstanding candidate to be an owner in the NFL, and he's a great friend."
