ATLANTA - There goes another top Canadian offensive lineman to the NFL.

David Foucault, a 6-foot-8, 320-pound tackle from the University of Montreal, signed on Monday with the Carolina Panthers, the club announced.

The Panthers had invited Foucault (pronounced FOO-koh) to try out at their rookie camp on Friday and Saturday. The Charlotte Observer's Joseph Person reported that Foucault looked good.

The Montreal Alouettes last week selected the LaSalle, Que., native fifth overall in the CFL draft.

The Panthers' offensive line has been depleted by injuries and retirement.

"He's a young man that's very intriguing for us. He'll have a chance. He'll have an opportunity," head coach Ron Rivera told Person. "The more experience he gets, I think the better he can become because he is very athletic. So we'll see."
