Former NFL wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson will not be charged by the Los Angeles County District Attorney in connection with a domestic incident at Johnson's home in April.

Johnson's ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Conrad, told a detective that her collar was torn and her finger scratched when Johnson tried to take away her phone during a conversation on April 21.

The district attorney decided against filing charges because Conrad is not cooperating and the injury was minor and appeared to be caused by accident.

"I am pleased that law enforcement acted quickly and that this matter has been fairly resolved," Johnson said in a statement. "The quick decision results from the fact that I should not have been arrested because no crime was committed. I did not and would not touch, grab or strike a woman -- any woman. Though Jennifer and I are both pleased that this matter is over, we very much resent the fact that I was ever arrested in the first place. I apologize to my friends, family, fans and colleagues for this matter."

After starring at Southern Cal, Johnson was the No. 1 pick in the 1996 draft by the New York Jets. He had an 11-year career in the NFL with the Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers that included three Pro Bowl selections.

Johnson, 41, has been an ESPN analyst since 2007.
