Teddy Bridgewater apparently is one week away from suffering a Geno Smith-type freefall.

That is, from No. 1 overall draft pick to right out of the first round.

On a conference call Thursday with NFL reporters, in a leadup to next week's draft, NFL Network's noted talent expert Mike Mayock said he no longer expects the Louisville passer to be selected in Round 1.

Up to mid-February, Bridgewater was seen as not only the No. 1 passer by Mayock and most draft analysts, but even as the No. 1 overall draft pick. That was precisely the case last year with eventual second-round pick Geno Smith of West Virginia.

Bridgewater's awful pro-day passing performance in March precipitated his plummet.

"From my perspective, seeing him throw the football live was a cross-check that I needed to go back and watch more tape," Mayock said on Thursday. "I think a lot of the NFL teams have done the same thing."
