The New York Giants added fifth-year veteran Rusty Smith to their quarterback depth chart Monday. Smith spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee Titans following a record-setting career at Florida Atlantic.

The 6-foot-5, 217-pound Smith has played in three career regular-season NFL games, including one start. He has completed 23 of 45 career passes for 234 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions.

With the Giants, he will compete for a roster spot behind starter Eli Manning. The team also has 2013 backups Curtis Painter and Ryan Nassib along with Josh Freeman, who was signed last week.

All four backups will get extended looks during the offseason training program while Manning recovers from ankle surgery.
