Did the Washington Redskins overpay for DeSean Jackson?

It wouldn’t be the first time Skins owner Daniel Snyder lured a big-name veteran free agent by plopping a lot more cash onto his lap than any other team was prepared to do.

The Philadelphia Eagles had surprisingly released the speedy wideout Friday. They did so mere hours after a report by NJ.com claimed Jackson had ties to a Los Angeles gang and even celebrated a touchdown last season by throwing up a gang hand sign.

Early Wednesday, the Redskins signed him.

Jackson had been set to earn $10.5 million in 2014 with Philly and nearly $30 million over the next three years. Jackson reportedly sought $9 million per year on the open market.

Reports Wednesday said Snyder is paying him $24 million over three years for a yearly average of $8 million -- with $16 million guaranteed.

Is the 5-foot-10, 175-pound seventh-year man worth it?
