Who says athleticism drills at the NFL scouting combine offer up few surprises?

A placekicker ran faster than more than half of the defensive backs this year.

That’s one of any number of eye-openers from the just-concluded “Underwear Olympics,” where for seven days teams looked under the hoods of 335 of the top prospects for May’s NFL draft.

But you want to know how the most talked-about players coming in fared in Indianapolis. Fair enough. My top 10 takeaways from this year’s meat-grinder:

1. BIG MACK ATTACK

Khalil Mack, the University of Buffalo linebacker, didn’t sneak up on anyone. He was NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock’s No. 1 LB before the combine. Now he’s Mayock’s No. 1 overall prospect.
