If the NFL extra point is to get the boot, the snapback and placement would come this week in Indianapolis.

The windup and follow-through would come next month at the annual meeting.

The league’s rules committee — officially named the Competition Committee — meets on the side this week during the NFL scouting combine, as it does each year, to mull potential changes to playing rules and by-laws.

The committee will announce its 2014 proposals in mid-March, prior to presenting them to owners for consideration and ratification at the NFL annual meeting March 23-26 in Orlando.

Three-quarters of the owners (75%, or 24 of 32) must approve any amendment.
