An NFL team can’t make the playoffs if it doesn’t start fast. Or close strong.

Statistically, those old bromides are mostly true. The last two Super Bowl champs, the Giants and Ravens, did both -- even if they skipped off the rails a bit in between.

But this season guess what else is mostly true? You can’t skip off those rails during the dog days of November and early December.

Of the 15 teams that won more than they lost between Halloween and this weekend, nine are in line to make the playoffs.

Philadelphia is the only team to go unbeaten in this span (5-0).
