While Mike Shanahan might survive the season as Washington Redskins head coach, RG3 might not -- literally -- if he keeps on playing.

That's why Shanahan, the Skins' embattled head coach, on Monday said the team is seriously considering shelving their star quarterback for the rest of this meaningless season.

If you've watched any game of the 3-10 Redskins for as long as 10 minutes, you've probably seen Robert Griffin III drilled at least once.

For instance, in Sunday's 45-10 pounding by Kansas City, Griffin was sacked six times -- when the Chiefs had had only two sacks since late October.

Griffin has been sacked 24 times in Washington's last five games and that doesn't come close to accounting for all the other times he has been hit on dropbacks or runs. On the season he has been sacked 38 times, fifth most in the league.
