December is nut-cutting time in the National Football League.

It is the month where the pretenders get separated from the contenders, the time of the year when a team wants to get on a roll that carries it deep into January's playoff season.

With November heading to a close, no player will be sadder to see the month run out of days than Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, who has completed just about the best month that any football player on the planet can have.

Maintaining that form will be his goal, but Mamma Mia has he ever set the bar high.

The Eagles will need him to continue his winning ways, to maintain his execution and composure as they focus on their goal of wining the NFC East.

On Sunday, they have a tough task when facing the rapidly improving Arizona Cardinals, who at 7-4 are one of the surprise teams in the league.
