Has the bloom come off the Colin Kaepernick rose?

Last year's whiz kid when he came on to replace the injured Alex Smith before taking over the job full time, Kaepernick has not come close to the same level of play that he produced last season when he led the San Francisco 49ers to a Super Bowl berth.

A year ago, Kaepernick was one of three super exciting rookie quarterbacks -- the others being Washington's Robert Griffin III and Seattle's Russell Wilson - that looked as if they would revolutionize the game. All three played with enthusiasm and excitement and came armed with a new-look read option, as they raced around the field with their feet and launched accurate bombs with their arms.

The trio had great success with RG3 finally injured at the end of the season and in need of knee surgery.

Of the three this season, Wilson is having the most success as he has led his team to a 9-1 record and a two-game lead over San Fran in the NFC West.
