The NFL needs more players like Anquan Boldin.

Someone secure enough in his own abilities (not to mention contractual situation) that he isn’t afraid to speak up when he sees the league doing something that isn’t quite right.

In this case it’s those horrendous Thursday night games that may provide fans with an extra night of football, but to date have yet to provide them with anything other than bad to mediocre football.

That, of course, is not Boldin’s argument.

Boldin is calling the NFL out because Thursday night games mean a shorter period between games which means a shorter recovery period for the players which means more potential injury to the players.

The discussion came about as Boldin addressed both local San Francisco media and fans alike on an online chat. He was asked if he had seen the PBS Documentary League of Denial about the history of concussions in the NFL.
