The New York Giants and Washington Redskins are living on the edge of desperation.

Both teams sit winless after three starts.

The Redskins at least looked like they had a clue in a close loss to the Lions last week.

The Giants? While head coach Tom Coughlin denied his team quit, it certainly looked that way in a 38-0 drubbing by Carolina.

But, not all is lost.

At least both teams are still talking like winners, even if they haven’t played like winners.

Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III spoke of a turnaround this week against Oakland, a renaissance to rival the team’s bounce-back from a 3-6 record to a playoff spot last year.

In New York, WR Hakeem Nicks lionized the team as having “the best offence in the league.” Considering they’ve scored fewer points than every NFC team this side of Tampa and San Francisco, this is an abundance of positive thinking that could make Tony Robbins, in comparison, look like a whiner.
