Let’s get one thing out of the way: Judgments can be made after one NFL pre-season game.

On players, mind you, not teams. Coaches do it all the time.

Wins and losses mean nothing in August. Pin a big, fat asterisk to any team assessments, other than those referencing only the first quarter of Week 2 pre-season games and the first half of Week 3 games, times when most teams play their starters.

Never forget the 2008 Detroit Lions, who went 4-0 in the pre-season and then 0-16 when games mattered.
