It may not be quite at the mania level but it is Tebow Time in New England.
When the quarterback arrived just before 9 a.m. for the first full Patriots’ practice, chants of “Tebow! Tebow!” rang out across the field.
While this remains unarguably Tom Brady’s team, the arrival of the most-interesting third stringer in the NFL was probably a welcome reprieve from the depressing news that keeps filtering out about former team-mate, and accused murderer, Aaron Hernandez. This is a team in dire need of something warm and fuzzy.
Bill Belichick does not do warm and fuzzy. Brady does not do warm and fuzzy.
Tebow can do warm and fuzzy.
After the 21/2 hour practice he spent time talking to fans and signing autographs. “It was a lot of fun ... starting practice,” said Tebow, who remains third on the depth chart behind Brady and backup Ryan Mallett. Where he fits in Belichick’s schemes remains a bit of a mystery.
