It’s safe to assume former NFL linebacker Monty Ray Grow won’t be opening any daycare centres any time soon.

Grow, 41, who played two seasons in the NFL in the mid-1990s, is facing child abuse charges for allegedly locking a toddler in a car on Sunday while he visited a south Florida strip joint.

Police in Florida wouldn’t reveal Grow’s relationship to the child, but multiple reports referred to Grow as the child's father

Police said the little girl’s mother and grandparents tracked the three-year-old down using GPS before cops waited for the ex-NFLer outside the Diamond Dolls strip club in Clearwater, Fla.

A member of the Kansas City Chiefs in 1994 and the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995, Grow emerged from the erotic nightclub 40 minutes after the girl was rescued by her family, police said.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Grow admitted to leaving the kid in the car, but claimed he had only stopped by to collect borrowed money from a club employee.

He was released from jail on Monday after posting $5,000 bail, according to records.
