New York Jets to pay bonus to Darrelle Revis
By QMI Agency
Unable to trade Darrelle Revis before a roster bonus was due, the New York Jets coughed up $1 million to the cornerback on Saturday. The Jets could not deal Revis in time to avoid a clause in his contract that calls for the bonus, according to ESPN New York. The money counts against the Jets' salary cap even though he will not receive it until later in the season. If Revis is traded, it would still count against the cap. The Jets have reportedly been in talks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about trading Revis for a first-round pick. Coming off an ACL injury that sidelined him for most of last season, Revis will earn $6 million in the final year of his contract. |
