How badly did the Buffalo Bills want free-agent edge defender Manny Lawson?

NFL teams could begin negotiating with player agents at midnight Saturday, three-and-a-half days before Tuesday’s opening of the market place.

“They called my agent and expressed interest at 12:01,” Lawson said in a telephone interview, shortly after being introduced at One Bills Drive as the team’s first free-agent acquisition.

“Buffalo was the first team to reach out (and) pushed hard.”

An NFL source told QMI Agency that Lawson’s deal is $12 million over four years, with $5 million guaranteed. He’ll earn $4.65 million in 2013.
