NFL agents are going to stimulate some action
By JOHN KRYK, QMI Agency

Rumours surfaced Friday that the Redskins are on the verge of releasing high-priced cornerback DeAngelo Hall. (AFP)

Free agency doesn’t begin until Tuesday at 4 p.m. EDT. The three-and-a-half-day negotiating window ahead of that deadline – new this year – merely legalizes what was happening covertly for years.

Agreements reached in principle cannot become official until after 4 on Tuesday. And you better believe there will be a bunch of ’em reached – probably not in the wee hours after talks could kick off (what’s the rush?) but by the end of the weekend, for sure.

Some deals we’ll hear about, some we won’t; some reports will be accurate, some won’t. It’s all part of the leverage-grabbing, cat-and-mouse game between player reps and teams. Remember, nothing will be in stone until Tuesday.

At the other end of the players’-fate spectrum are high-salaried veterans getting dumped overboard left and right, as the Tuesday deadline for teams to squeeze under the $123-million salary cap nears.

Is first round pick Eric Fisher a decent choice by the Kansas City Chiefs?
  Yes.
  No.
He has to prove himself before I decide.
