How’s your 2013 going? Bet it’s not as well as Joe Flacco’s.
Just 63 days into the new calendar year, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback already has gone from most valuable player in the Super Bowl to most valuable payee in the NFL.
And it’s all thanks to one killer completion.
On Monday, the Ravens officially signed Flacco to a six-year, $120.6-million contract – $52 million of it guaranteed. At $20.1 million per season, it’s the most lucrative annual remuneration in league history.
“It was never necessarily about the money and all that,” Flacco said, all smiles, at his news conference with team officials. “But it was definitely about earning that respect, and feeling like I was respected around here.”
