In Joe Flacco’s case it will bring more money than any team has ever thrown a quarterback’s way.
Whether it brings happiness and the respect he craves remains to be seen.
The Baltimore Ravens, according to an ESPN report Friday night, have agreed to make Flacco the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Details of the agreement were not immediately available, although it was reported to be six years for $120 million.
New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees had the highest average salary in the NFL, signing a five-year, $100-million contract last July that guaranteed him $60 million.
The Broncos gave Peyton Manning a five-year pact worth up to $96 million last March and Flacco was seeking a deal that would pay close to $20 million.
It appears he will get that with details of the contract to be completed this weekend and an announcement coming Monday. Not bad for a quarterback who never has appeared in a Pro Bowl.
