Ravens corner hits back
By BILL LANKHOF, QMI Agency
Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith is a portrait of innocence.
Of course, that’s what that cat, Sylvester, used to feign on the Saturday morning TV Looney Tunes, too, even whilst the Tweety Bird feathers hanging off his bottom lip told a different story.
So, you figure it out. Though some don’t agree, Smith says he didn’t deserve to be flagged on the 49ers’ final pass in the Super Bowl and that San Francisco receiver Michael Crabtree was instead guilty of a hit and run.
“He ran directly into me,” Smith told ESPN radio in Denver. “I had inside leverage. He ran into me. So once he did that and tried to push off ... I had to make contact. That was on him. He didn’t run a fade; he didn’t get away. He could have just ran and pivoted out or faded away from the ball, but he didn’t. He ran into me so he could make contact to push off to create separation, and I didn’t let that happen.”
