The most hated player in the NFL is being credited with saving comedian Louie Anderson from drowning during the recent filming of a reality TV show.
According to TMZ, Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh teamed with former U.S. Olympic diver Greg Louganis to rescue the funny man during the filming of “Splash,” a reality diving show that will air on ABC in the spring.
Anderson had to be rescued after practicing one of his dives when he reportedly became too exhausted and almost sank.
The gossip site reported Monday that Suh had to help lift the comedian out from the bottom of the pool.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz said last week the club didn’t have an issue with Suh taking part in the offseason filming of the show.
Last year, Suh was voted the most disliked player in the NFL, according to a league-wide poll conducted by Nielsen and E-Poll Market Research.
The two-time Pro Bowler has been criticized for being the architect of a number of dirty plays during his short time in the NFL, including a kick to Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub’s groin this season and a stomp to Green Bay offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith's arm in 2011.
