Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is coming off a disappointing season and that, coupled with his huge contract, could mean his days as the club's No. 1 quarterback are over. Syracuse QB Ryan Nassib, for one, would love to have his job. (Reuters)
The sun appears to be setting on Ryan Fitzpatrick’s days as the
No. 1 quarterback in Buffalo.
But if not Fitzpatrick, then who?
General manager Buddy Nix has mused for weeks that he’d love to draft, or find, or trade for, or try pretty much anything including cloning Doug Flutie, to unveil a franchise quarterback for 2013.
Time for a reality check. The 2012 goldmine that brought Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III is an anomaly. Not that there aren’t some nice nuggets out there. It’s just that the likes of Ryan Nassib of Syracuse or USC’s Matt Barkley aren’t as polished.
This is not stopping Nassib from connecting the dots to his dream job.
He played for Buffalo head coach Doug Marrone and offensive co-ordinator Nathaniel Hackett with the Orange and he’d like to give it a shot in the NFL, too.
