NFL QBs: The Young and The Ageless
Colin Kaepernick, Peyton Manning at opposite ends of careersBy Bill Lankhof, QMI Agency
For Peyton Manning, these NFL playoffs are an opportunity to slap an exclamation point on a Hall of Fame career. For Colin Kaepernick, they represent the beginning of his story. While they won’t face off against each other, Saturday’s division playoff games will feature The Young and The Ageless, two quarterbacks looking at their careers from opposite ends of the spectrum. For Kaepernick, the game against Green Bay will be just his eighth pro start. But since taking over from incumbent 49ers’ quarterback Alex Smith, his 76.8 quarterback rating ranks third behind only Manning and Tom Brady. It is much to early to suggest he is Joe Montana reincarnate. But, that hasn’t stopped many from making lofty comparisons between Kaepernick and some of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks. And, a victory Saturday over Aaron Rodgers and the Packers might give those ideas some traction. |
