ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – So now we wait for the axes to fall. How many axes?

More than in a Lord of the Rings movie.

That’s across the NFL in general – where who knows how many GMs and head coaches await the blade this week – but, more particularly the purposes of this column, on the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills.

The one and only significant thing about the Bills and Jets closing out their dismal 2012 seasons on Sunday was the not the result – Buffalo 28, New York 9 – but rather the aftermath.

Key men on both clubs appear sure to lose their jobs.

Exactly who? Nobody but the owners – Woody Johnson of the Jets Ralph Wilson of the Bills, and their closest confidantes – probably knew as of early Sunday night.
