It has become the rush to judge league.
And when it comes to that, guilty as charged. A week ago Sunday, we were at MetLife Stadium to watch the New York Giants throttle the New Orleans Saints. The quick conclusion: The Super Bowl champs were back and in the driver’s seat for the NFC East.
The next night, it was off to Foxboro where the New England Patriots laid a similar beating on the Houston Texans. The instant verdict: Tom Brady for MVP and back to the drawing board, Texans.
Fast forward just a week and it was if all four of those teams weren’t even playing the same game. The Giants were thumped 34-0 by Atlanta, a stunning reversal in form from the previous week. Big Blue coach Tom Coughlin, so enthused by the effort against the Saints, was at a loss for what happened against the Falcons. And suddenly, his team has some work to do just to get a chance to defend.
