Tough to ignore Wilson now
By Rob Longley, QMI Agency
In less than one half of football late Sunday afternoon at the Rogers Centre, Russell Wilson did what five years of trying to sell the Buffalo Bills here couldn’t. Thirty minutes was all it took for the Seattle Seahawks’ rookie quarterback to finally give NFL fans in Toronto something worth watching. From the Pacific Northwest, to Canada, to anywhere they care about four-down football, there is no choice but to take notice of Wilson now. Not only did the pint-sized quarterback rush for three touchdowns and throw for another — all in the first half of the 50-17 blowout win and something that had never been done by any quarterback of any age in NFL history — he is leading a team that has to be taken most seriously in a most intriguing NFC playoff race. Sunday’s may not have been Wilson’s coming out party, but when a team scores 108 points in two weeks, the volume of the soundtrack certainly becomes amplified. |
